Goodbye Summer

As the end of summer draws near, I’m reminded of how quickly time passes. The things I think I have so much time to accomplish, or that are so far off into the future are suddenly before me. It’s always a little bittersweet to say goodbye to days full of late sunsets, fun activities, and a general ease of letting the hours pass.

However, that ease is usually a daydream, me remembering a feeling from the summers of my youth. Even though I have worked a full-time job for decades, I have an expectant, optimistic outlook toward summer. And then, before I know it, here we are at the end of August, school is back in session, and I made it to the pool only twice.

I’ve been in this role for eight months and have exercised a whole new part of my brain. With the ability to be more creative, I realize that I *have* been able to sink into the ease of summer, as I walk around and hear from tourists, workers, and residents who want Downtown to be the best it can be. In the busy-ness of thinking up new ways to talk about and show off Downtown and bring new activities and programming, I have felt the optimism of summer days and from you.

Just because summer is ending doesn’t mean that fun activities and energy in Downtown will. There is more coming our way and I’m excited to share it with you.

Hope to see you on the streets soon!
